JRFH/HFH Mini grant application guidlelines
SHAPE NEBRASKA JUMP ROPE FOR HEART/HOOPS FOR HEART MINI GRANT APPLICATION GUIDELINES
The Society of Health and Physical Education of Nebraska invites applications from Coordinators of Jump Rope for Heart (JRFH) or Hoops for Heart (HFH) events to request funding for events designed to promote JRFH/HFH. The JRFH/HFH MINI GRANT is for up to $250. A maximum of $1000 may be dispersed by the Society in any one-year.
Use of funds awarded by the SHAPE Nebraska Board may be applied towards equipment or materials to conduct a Jump Rope for Heart or Hoops for Heart event.
INCENTIVE FOR CONDUCTING A JRFH OR HFH EVENT
Since 1978, JRFH and HFH have raised more that $885 million. These programs promote physical education and raise your students’ awareness about heart disease and stroke, while raising funds for cardiovascular disease research , stroke research, and health education. Jump Rope For Heart and Hoops For Heart are the only two fund development programs that directly support your profession.
If the coordinator completes a JRFH/HFH event in NE, they receive a $20 discount off of a SHAPE NE membership!
If their school raises over $2000, they receive a free SHAPE America JUMP membership.
Both memberships provide up to date news affecting their field through newsletters, resources, advocacy efforts, opportunities and partnerships. They will receive everything they need to know about the JRFH and HFH programs from the PULSE newsletter. Each issue includes lesson plans, tips for holding JRFH and HFH events, and heart-healthy activities for students. They can join discussion groups and post and download resources from the shared library. There are award and recognition opportunities for the their schools with professional development stipends and equipment vouchers to enhance their program.
